About Me

My photo
My human, Mia, has been working so hard. She is so inspired by my plan. My plan is to go all over the United States meeting new and wonderful people, to share their stories, and to find the connection between all people. Mia is so wonderful, and I want to meet more wonderful humans like her.

.....9....

Nine Days till we take off!

Crazy to think all those months ago when this idea, to travel 48 states in 1 year, was conceived it seemed so far away. As I count down the days till we depart, I am thankful for Mia & my loved ones locally, Mia's friends and family supporting us. They have thrown several "Taco Adventure Kick off parties" it has been wonderful to have the support of those we're leaving behind.

BUT...

What so wonderful about this blog & this trip is....

We aren't leaving them behind, the concept behind this blog is to connect people; people reading it to those I meet, people reading to Mia & I, people reading to each other.  So really no one is left behind, no one is disconnected.

I hope as this year progresses my intent is seen, that "we" (all of us; you reading, those I meet & Mia) get a great sense of community and connection with the whole of the USA.

I also intend on discovering a truth that I see: Everyone has the potential for greatness, just some choose not to fulfill on their greatness.  If this is true (and I believe it to be so) then that means people you know.... "Every day" people are filled with greatness and you probably find them inspiring.

See you all tomorrow. :)

The Calm before the Storm!

Since Mia and I have been so stressed out the last week from organizing everything for the big move, we are taking it easy this week. Mia and I moved out of our home this past weekend. We are now practicing our trip, we are living with the car as our closet and main home, while staying in a strange space.

I think I'm going to visit Mia's parents for the rest of the week, I enjoy relaxing with them. Just to get a small vacation from Mia before being in the car with her for a year. Of course I'm just teasing, I love Mia, but a break would be nice while Mia wraps up what she needs to before the trip.

This week Mia will also be relaxing.  She says her friends are throwing her a going away luncheon and her workplace is also throwing her a party.  She also says if she can squeeze it in, she wants to get a pedicure & a facial, she does like to be pampered.

This makes me wonder:    What do you like to do when you're ready to relax?

We're not to GO! yet.... but we are getting close!  :)

This week Mia and I are moving out of her home and into our "home" for the next year, Mia's car.

We kick this adventure off on August 8th in Michigan!

The first leg of the trip is:

Michigan
Ohio
West Virginia
Pennsylvania
New York
Vermont
New Hampshire
Maine
(then only 40 more states to go!)

Where would YOU recommend to go and see in these states?

I call it my peeps.

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family. Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one. ~Jane Howard

One of my theories on this trip is: People are connected. People everywhere, are people and if given the chance they will all gravitate towards being a community together.

So the above quote is especially meaningful to me. Since we can choose our network, our clans, our friends, and who we call family it seems we can create community anyway we choose to create community.

Who is your community? And do they know how much they mean to you?

Get Ready, Get Set, ........

So day is 1 month till GO!  Aug 8th is my first official day out on this adventure.  I am starting in Michigan, Ohio, and West PA.  I'm looking forward to this starting officially and to see how all this planning is going to work out :).

Today about 1/3 of Mia's furniture is gone. She has family members that are "borrowing" some of her things till she returns and needs them again. So now, we find a storage space for the rest of her items and start the moving process.

It's amazing how much Mia "requires" to survive. I thought taking on a human would be easy work. And I love Mia, but wow she needs special places to sit, pictures and art all over the place to entertain her, we even own multiple TV's, Radio's, and Books all for her entertainment. All I ask is for 1 soft blanket to lay on & my bear and ball to keep me entertained. Otherwise I'm content sitting in the sun & running in the yard.

Well, off to help Mia pack more of her things, so we can be ready in a month to leave for this adventure.
