Sometimes even we can't believe what happens to us on the road.
We were out near Big Bend, TX (middle of nowhere west TX) and Mia pulls over to the side of the road to figure out which way we need to go next. While Mia was playing around with the GPS she notices the gentleman in the picture above coming up to the car. Mia isn't sure about this but rolls down the window to see what he needs. Turns out the gas station Mia pulled into is closed for the day but the pumps will work for credit cards only. The gentleman can't get his card to work and is asking to use ours.
Now of course ANYONE's first reaction should be NO!
However, Mia believes this man that he is traveling and had some fraud on his account and that's why it won't work now. Plus he's from Holland, we could hear the accent, so there is the added security for international cards.
Mia decides to take the risk to help him out. She slides the card and he gives her the cash. While he's pumping the gas his wife gets out of the vehicle. Mia and the couple talk while the gas is pumping. We learn they are from Holland and traveling across the USA for 3 months. They'd rented the camper and had started in Florida. They had traveled across to Texas and were actually at the end of their trip. They were soon driving back to Florida and returning home.
Funny how we keep running into super interesting people. It's why I came out here on this trip to meet more amazing and wonderful people just like my Mia. Mia keeps thinking about how she's not so sure she's interesting but loves meeting the people with me. She says it's inspiring and she loves the fact people keep supporting my theory "Everyone is a friend until they prove themselves otherwise."
So far we've met many, many friends on this trip
(Mia of course watched her account closely for the next week or so for any "funny" stuff, all was/is well.)
